The Malawi Blood Transfusion Service (MBTS) acknowledges and appreciates Aubrey Dozolo, a regular voluntary blood donor who recently marked his 18th blood donation. His continued commitment is a reflection of the selfless spirit shared by many Malawians who donate blood regularly to help save lives.

For Dozolo, each donation is more than just an act of kindness. It is a personal commitment to making a difference. โ€œI may never meet the people Iโ€™ve helped,โ€ he said, โ€œbut knowing that my blood has the ability to give someone a second chance is the greatest reward.โ€

Regular blood donors like Dozolo are among the many heroes who make it possible for health facilities across the country to meet emergency and medical needs. From trauma victims, pregnant women with pregnancy related complications, to under-five children suffering from malaria induced anaemia, access to safe blood is essential to saving lives.

According to MBTS, one unit of donated blood can save up to three or four lives, depending on how it is used. While not every donation may be processed into components or paediatric packs, each unit still plays a critical role in patient care and survival.

As the demand for safe blood continues to grow, MBTS encourages all healthy and eligible Malawians to become regular blood donors. A single donation may only take a few minutes, but its impact in a patientโ€™s life can be immeasurable.
